Asparagus is now on sale in Union Square at a very good price - $1 per bunch. It's usually not a good thing when the -gus has gone missing. Mostly, I like it in limited doses.
The problem I have is that I'm not a very good cook. Even still, asparagus, like most green vegetables (brussels sprouts, green beans, etc.), is fairly easy to prepare. You just cut off the bottoms and you steam them until they are tender and then add a little butter to taste. There are other, much better ways to cook asparagus, but I don't have those culinary skills.
I have no idea where -gus went.
That's why it's just a buck; you only get the 1st part. [P.S. recipe: aspara in steamer bag 90 secs in microwave. No butter needed but salt if u like.]
ReplyDeleteMaybe the sign in last picture explains it. Gus has "Gone Away"
ReplyDeleteBtw, you have been chosen to receive the Zombie chicken award.
Try cooking that. :-)

Hello from Tampa! I used to hate asparagus until I had them roasted. Make it like this: Cut off hard part of stems, lay them in single layer of baking sheet lined with foil. Sprinkle olive oil on them and toss them until completly covered. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and cook at 375 until nearly done. Remove from oven, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and return to oven for last 5 minutes. So-ooo good and so-oo much better than the usual way!
ReplyDeleteGood recipe. I like it. Thanks!
