Cats Walking
Oops, I forgot to post this a couple weeks ago before I went to LA, but better late than never. Grace Coddington, the surprise star of the fashion-doc The September Issue , was signing copies of her book "Catwalk Cats" a day before Halloween at Clic Gallery downtown.
All the pretty young fashionistas showed up dressed in their finest Halloween garb. Katherine Zarrella from Interview Magazine was there taking notes and documenting the scene (pictured in background).

Chinese Laundry
Scattered across Manhattan are hundreds of Chinese laundromats that will wash and dry and fold all of your clothes. Of course, they almost always invariably lose some of your stuff and mix other people's things in with your laundry, but for $1 to $1.50 a pound it can be an absolute necessity for busy yuppies (do they still exist?) with not much time on their hands. This one is particularly rare because they post the prices. A lot of the time I get the impression that they just make up the prices on the spot. This totally reminds me about a really good story I have about the crazy Asian lady across the street at the dry cleaners. I'll have to post some pictures of that.

Parking Ticket Roulette
Parking fines in NYC are so hard to figure out. Let's say for some strange reason you end up parking on the sidewalk. How would you know if you'll get a $25 fine or a $500 fine? That's such an arbitrary range. How do they determine who gets the $25 fine and who gets the $500 fine? It's probably a good thing if you do get a ticket because the alternative is that your car or truck is going to fall into the subway. This is the only time when it's better to get a ticket. Of course you could always go to traffic court and fight the ticket.
