Get Them While They're Hot
A truly excellent time to get your favorite calendar is right after the start of June. They are at outrageously low prices and are 75% off at Rizzoli bookstore on 57th Street. Don't you hate it when you go to get a calendar in early January and the one you want is totally sold out? No worries! Wait until June and you can get whichever one you want. No lines. Who really needs to keep track of things during the first five months of the year?
Here's a great new song by a young indie-electro band from Northern Island. As far as I can tell they've only released one single and a track on a compilation from Kitsune Music. The cool thing for me is that they don't even have a drummer. The band is Two Door Cinema Club and the catchy song is called "Something Good Can Work." It's upbeat, poppy and I like it. A tasty little number that is sure to make you tap your toes. Give it a listen, you'll be hooked.
They need some friends on MySpace.

As Above So Below

Here I present three photographs from my late Saturday afternoon/early evening journey in midtown.1. A look below from above at Bergdorf Goodman into the cufflink department.
2. Browsing through the photography books upstairs, I looked down towards the ground floor of Rizzoli Books on 57th Street and caught a great moment.
3. Finally, a window into 8 1/2, a swanky restaurant with great food on 57th Street.
You know there is a depression when there are more salespeople than shoppers at Bergdorf. A very slow sales Saturday. I saw a ton of books I wanted at Rizzoli, as usual, but I didn't buy anything. I love books.
It looks like the saleswoman behind the counter is reading a book about Heath Ledger and Jim Carroll's The Basketball Diaries. It's a good thing they don't sell US Magazine at Rizzoli.

57th Street Shuffle
The matching gloves are really excellent too. Top it all off with a purchase down the block at Bergdorf Goodman and a trendy designer purse. Extra points if anyone can identify the handbag.
