Gagosian Shop

Following the sold out event at the New York Public Library on Wednesday night, last Thursday John Wilcock, Gretchen Berg and yours truly did a book signing at the Gagosian Shop for the new book on Andy Warhol that I just published. The book is called "The Autobiography and Sex Life of Andy Warhol" and it's available at Gagosian (featured in the window!) It's also available through Amazon or at most bookstores and museums around the world. It's gotten great reviews everywhere. I should probably post a lot more pictures about it on here, but you can find a ton more information on the Facebook page.

We had a really fun time hanging out and signing books at Gagosian. They have an amazing selection of books, limited edition posters and prints and all sorts of stuff I would want to buy. Everyone was really nice at the shop and John told a bunch of great stories about the time he spent with Marilyn Monroe back in the 1950s. After the signing we went out for a celebratory dinner at Elaine's way up on the Upper East Side.

It was a great time. Wish you were there!

Warhol's Flowers

I met this really cool girl last week who has a terrific Warhol flower tattoo on her neck. We talked about Andy Warhol and other things at a crazy uptown party. She showed me her tattoo and I took a picture of it. I have a feeling you'll be seeing a lot more of her in the future.

Interview Magazine

You'll find a very large floor to ceiling painting of Andy Warhol in the lobby of 575 Broadway. This is the building that houses the offices for Interview Magazine.

High and Low

Leaders from the one hundred ninety-two members of the United Nations gathered in New York this week for the new General Assembly. There were parties and events all over town. Traffic was a mess and many streets were closed and cars and pedestrians redirected.

One of the events may have been at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) the other evening. The important people ate at nicely appointed tables upstairs in the beautiful museum while the caterers ate the same food a few feet away in the loading dock.

A large green Andy Warhol "Flowers" painting hangs above the museum information desk. A large overflowing coat rack is situated in the loading dock area. If you really think about it, the coat rack is perhaps a slightly more interesting piece of art. Andy once said, "Art is anything you can get away with." I'm calling the "Coat Rack (found jackets, uniforms, and two coat racks, 2008)" art. Consider it a temporary installation.

Warhol at the Met

The Met is so big and it's a lot of fun to visit on a leisurely afternoon.  Suggested donaton for admisson is $20, but if you read the fine print you'll realize that you can give a dime and they'll let you in.  Always something new to discover and the cafe food is pretty good too.  

Andy Warhol Lived Here

Walking down 66th Street this evening, I noticed a small placard on the side of a townhouse. As I walked over to take a picture of it, I was amazed to realize that it was the 27 room home where Andy Warhol lived from 1974 until his death in 1987. It's for sale for $38 million. His other Manhattan home is also for sale priced at $6 million. Might as well buy them both.
