42nd Street Sprinkle
It rained on Friday and everyone in the city had their umbrellas out. Crossing 42nd Street at Madison Avenue is especially treacherous even when it isn't raining.

Pixie Taxi
Isn't this what you would call a classic pixie cut? They seem to be coming back in style. It's always a little awkward to hail down a taxi cab. You can't really pose or look great doing it. You just flail your arm out there and hope for the best. She seems to be doing a good job looking good and getting a cab.

Waiting for a Cab
Luckily for this gentleman, it's not quite as hard to get a taxicab in the snow as it is in the rain.

Matt Damon in "The Adjustment Bureau"
55th Street and 6th Avenue is proving to be an exceptionally popular spot to film movies this fall. I was walking home from the Museum of Modern Art late this afternoon and I just happened to wander onto the set of "The Adjustment Bureau," a film starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt that's been shooting in the city over the past few weeks. Matt Damon was sitting in the back seat of a taxi cab and the cameras were about to roll when I walked by the location. This answers your question in case you were wondering how they film these types of shots where the actors are sitting in the back seat of a taxicab. The cars are rigged up with special camera mounts and the cab is pulled along while the actors sit in the back. Of course, by the time it's edited and pieced together it will look as if Matt Damon just naturally hopped in the back of the cab and sped down 55th Street towards 7th Avenue.
You may recall that it was only three weeks ago that I ran into Miley Cyrus at the very exact same spot.

Rainy Wet Sunday Afternoon
I think that more than half the time the taxis in New York aim for you. You have to be quick on your toes if you don't want to get hit. Of course, nearly every New Yorker that's lived here for longer than a week jaywalks so perhaps that's half the problem right there.6th Avenue has the weirdest pavement. It's most definitely not conducive to skateboarding.

Taxi!
When you break your leg and have to wear crutches, you are going to have to be really clever if you're going to hail a cab around rush hour in NYC. Here's a method that usually works. Outside the News Corp. Building on 6th Avenue near Rockefeller Center in Midtown.

Raining and Hailing a Taxi
I found out tonight that I am thought of as a good taker of photos and a good buyer of root beer. I'm not entirely sure how important or useful these skills are in the real world.

Full Moon over 42nd Street
The view down 42nd Street looking towards the Chrysler Building. It sort of looks like a street light, but the bright light in the sky is a full moon.
