First Place

I have no idea what they could have won, but a huge group of kids were walking along Central Park South carrying these enormous glittery trophies and they were screaming, "We won first place!"

A block or two later another group of kids were claiming out loud to anyone in the immediate vicinity, "We won first place!" Both groups of these red-shirted-screamers can't have won first place or was this one of those postmodern contests where everyone wins a first place trophy of some sort?

Rain, Flowers and Horse Drawn Carriages

Another cloudy and rainy day in June, but it has been a very good day so far. I found these very bright flowers right near Central Park. You can see the horses and carriages in the background that will take you on a fun carriage ride in Central Park. They run all day until late at night and I think it can be a very romantic thing to do. After a ride in the park there are lots of places to go and get an ice cream cone. There really nothing better than ice cream in the summer. Except sometimes maybe a SnoCone or Fla-Vor-Ice. Fla-Vor-Ice is so totally underrated.

Isn't She Lovely?

After a quick afternoon trip to the post office (no line!), I figured it was way too nice of an afternoon to stay inside with Mr. Orange. (OJ did spend some quality time looking out the open windows at birds and taxicabs so you needn't worry if he had a productive afternoon or not.) Apparently the rest of the city had the exact same thought as me because when I went out for a bike ride it was unbelievably packed everywhere. Doesn't anyone stay inside on a nice day like today? I actually don't really like unseasonably warm weather. The normal temperature for today is 64 degrees, not 80. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 88. I might have to make some iced tea though I think I need a new glass pitcher.

I went out to the bike shop on 58th Street near 7th Avenue where I managed to get the tires on my bike pumped up. I noticed they were a little low and I was happy to cross that off my list. I also ran into a totally insane man on the corner of 59th Street right near Central Park. I didn't feel like stopping for a chat with him, but he was more than happy to strike a Madonna-like pose for me.

Manhattan By Carriage

I don't know many New Yorkers that take these horse-drawn carriages as they are really geared towards tourists, but I am fairly certain that galloping through the park on a snowy evening might be a good way to enjoy a handful of leftover Valentine's Day cookies.

Camera, Crutches and Carriages

Taking pictures at the corner of 59th Street and 5th Avenue. This is where you can get a horse carriage ride through Central Park.
